Being the goalie doesn’t mean you just stand there and be prepared to get the ball. There is so much more to it!

First we must make sure the goal is stable.

Technically we school year round. But we took off a little time around the birth of Leah.  Then there was the moving.  Then we couldn’t find the school books.  Thankfully we had started last year early and then really pushed right before Leah was born.  So besides math, we really did start a new school year.  It won’t be long though and both Sam and Matt will have finished last year’s books and will be ready to jump into the new year.

I’ll be posting some pictures of our first days, and I’ll start you off with Monday morning.  It was around 8am.  We went outside and they had a great time posing for me.  It was already about 150 degrees outside.

(Why do some say Pre-K and some say K-4.  I know why I do!  Because I would say Alex is kindergarten as he doing work that might generally be done in kindergarten, but he is only 4, and some of the stuff is for younger grades.  Like he really can’t WRITE yet..but can do all the phonics and math.)

Hannah, 2 years old

Roy and I are in the main rooms and I keep hearing Alex being noisy in the bedroom.  The kids are all down for bed and he should be quiet!  Roy goes back once and gives him a warning about being quiet and going to sleep.   A few minutes later I hear the noise again.

I listen.

It’s growling.

I kind of ignore him for a minute to see if he’ll get it out and then settle down.

No.

The growling increases.  Louder.  And more growlie…for lack of a better word.

I go  back there and we have this conversation:

Me: Alex, I believe daddy warned you already about being quiet.

Alex: It isn’t me.  I am quiet.

Me: Well, I heard a lot of noise coming from this room.  Why are you growling?

Alex: It isn’t me!!!  I being quiet!!

Me: Then who is growling?  (guessing the answer already!)

Alex: It’s my bear.  I keep telling him to be quiet but he just won’t.

As I walk out of the room, “That bear better be quiet and go to sleep or he’s sleeping outside!”

Haven’t heard a peep since!

After an email with my uncle, I was given the idea to ask Alex more questions about his bear.  He left his pillow at my aunt’s house after a recent visit and refuses a different one.  He has been using his bear as a pillow.

Tonight we had the following conversation:

Me: I notice you’re using your bear as a pillow.  Does he not bite you anymore?

A: Yes, he does.

Me: Oh.  Does it hurt?

A: Yes. But he only bite when he mad.

Me: Does he get mad often?

A: Only when he hot.

Me: Does he get hot often.

A: Yes.

Me: You must get bit a lot then.

A: No, I give him treats so he don’t bite me.

Me: What kind of treats?

A: Candy

Me: Where do you get the candy?

A: I go to the store and get candy and give him some and then give me some.

Me: And that stops him from biting you.

A: Not really..he still likes to bite me.

Me: **rushes out of room laughing my head off

That boy has an answer for everything.  I love talking to him!!

Alex couldn’t get to sleep last night.  He had a late nap and said he just wasn’t tired.  He was staying in bed.  Until…..

My MIL and SIL are visiting and are sleeping in the boys room. So the boys are sleeping on the floor of the girls room.  Alex heard the baby moving and decided she wanted to play with him.  He turned on the light and was giving her toys.  She was moving all around her crib getting the toys and laughing at Alex.

So I get them situated back in bed.  Alex has this big white stuffed bear.  I laid down near him and was talking to him about trying to fall asleep.  I started having the bear “kiss” him.  He looks at me and says in the most serious voice, “Bears bite.  Please keep the bear away from me.”

Alex will be 4 years old in 3 weeks.  Hannah turned 2 in May.  Alex is a boy.  Hannah is a princess.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

Alex LOVES to hear Hannah scream.  And she must enjoy screaming since she will continually return to his presence to allow him to growl at her so that she can run away screaming…AGAIN.

Then there are nights like tonight.  He walks in the room, picks her up, twirls her around, gives her a big smooch, and declares, “You’re the best princess EVER!”

Every time he takes off his bathing suit it is turned inside out (it’s a one piece top and bottom suit) and he comes and before heading out to swim again he comes and asks me to put it right side on. 

A few minutes he comes to me and asks me to put it right side on. I do so.

A few minutes later he comes to me now naked and asks me to put it right side on again.  I said, “Didn’t I just do this?”  And he says, “Yes, but I forgot to take my clothes off first and had to take it back off.”

LOL

We love kiwi fruit!! LOVE IT! Most shopping trips include bringing home kiwi. Do you know what it is?

The easiest way to eat them, in our opinion, is to cut in half, and then eat with a spoon. Just dig right in…YUM!

So they’re pronounced Kee Wee. Every time Alex asks me if he can have a Kee You.
