Our Life as a Military Family

Kayla is 17 years old and starting her senior year in the fall. She attended public school through the 4th grade – 3 different schools!  We moved the summer after her 4th grade and we thought we’d be moving again the next summer so we decided to homeschool for the 5th grade.  The year went wonderfully and we decided to do it again…taking it one year at a time. Those two years have turned into eight.  Kayla will graduate from our home school next May – the same month she turns 18.

She is applying to 3 colleges, with San Francisco State University being her top choice.  She’s planning to major in fashion design and marketing.  She’s always been interested in clothing and fabric and well, anything having to do with fashion.  She’d like to do some design work but mostly she’d like to be a buyer for a large store.

Kayla reads a lot and is passionate about knitting.  She learned when she was 13 and since then has gone from simple scarves to knitting clothing, bags, hats, gloves, etc. even making up her own patterns.
